Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), affirmed that Dubai's tourism sector continues to achieve tangible results despite challenges. He noted that the resilience of the tourism ecosystem and the integrated efforts of partners have contributed to strengthening the emirate's position on the global tourism map.
He stated that Dubai continues to develop its tourism sector by adopting flexible strategies that keep pace with global changes and support sustainable growth. He pointed out that innovation and collaboration among various entities have been two fundamental pillars of success in overcoming challenges.
Kazim's remarks came during a periodic meeting organized by Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism, with broad participation from partners in the hospitality, aviation, retail, and food sectors, as well as representatives from government agencies and the media. The meeting reviewed tourism and economic performance indicators and discussed the features of the next phase of growth.
Kazim explained that Dubai addressed the repercussions of the regional situation through a coordinated approach aimed at ensuring the continuity of economic and tourism activities in the city. This was achieved through continuous communication among stakeholders and a clear leadership presence to bolster confidence. He explained that the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly regarding the speed of communication and coordination, were reapplied to address the situation, alongside government support measures for the private sector.
He noted that flexibility was a key factor in maintaining the stability of various sectors, and that continuous coordination among stakeholders and government support packages, amounting to AED 2.5 billion, contributed to enhancing the resilience of the private sector and sustaining growth.
Emirates Airline
The presentation of aviation sector data showed that Emirates Airline has restored approximately 96% of its operational network to 138 destinations in 73 countries, operating more than 1,300 flights weekly. Flydubai also recorded a strong return, with approximately 80% of its network operational, serving more than 100 destinations in 50 countries and operating more than 1,750 flights weekly. Events
In a related context, Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), stated that the Establishment continues to offer a comprehensive agenda of events that cater to diverse audiences, thereby enhancing Dubai's position and increasing its competitiveness on the global stage.
He added that these events contribute to attracting more visitors from around the world, support increased spending across various economic sectors, and solidify Dubai's appeal as a leading tourism and retail destination.
He pointed out that promotional programs, including the "Win 12 Homes in Dubai" initiative launched by DFRE in collaboration with Binghatti, represent an innovative model for stimulating the retail sector.
This initiative allows shoppers to enter prize draws when they spend AED 500 or more at participating stores. The campaign encompasses more than 1,000 brands and 3,500 retail outlets, reflecting the significant engagement with seasonal events and their role in supporting the emirate's economic activity.
